Remote Sensing of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions
Remote Sensing of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions
We moved to UC Berkeley's Department of Geography and Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management in January 2024!
We study how terrestrial ecosystems are impacted by climate change. We focus on plant interactions with their environment, and the role of biodiversity and plant traits in ecosystem functions. We conduct boots-on-the ground field measurements combined with large-scale remote sensing observations and statistical modeling.
We advance basic knowledge as a foundation to solve problems such as the irreplaceable loss of biodiversity and our planet’s rapidly changing climate.
We value evidence-based decisions and diverse forms of knowledge.
We believe that scientific integrity cannot be separated from personal integrity and well-being.
We hope our work leads to a better place to live for all beings on Earth.
